In Maryland there are many beautiful lakes, Plum Creek Pond is one of them. Plum Creek Pond ordinarily gets a lot of rain; August is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest of the months is February. Whitewater paddling is great on Big Elk Creek; you can always enjoy a lazy day on the beach at Roachs Shore. If you came to camp Woodlands Camping Resort is a splendid location to do that, and not far from Plum Creek Pond you'll find Emily Point Disposal
Area Lake which is a delightful lake.
If you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Northeast, Md is a good choice, and if you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Northeast Creek. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn & Suites is a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out nearby Court House Point Disposal

Area Lake. An afternoon playing golf at Chesapeake Bay Golf Club is always a joy; a magnificent view of beautiful Bacon Hill is available.
This lake is so wonderful. At Plum Creek Pond during the summer highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Plum Creek Pond. And if you're still looking for more outdoors fun stuff just keep reading. Plum Creek Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Sandy Hill Camp & Conference is a great local campground, and do take some time to pop by Elk Neck State Forest if you're here.

Noxontown Lake
15 miles away

...the dam and the road to your right after you leave the ramp is not worth spending your time with. Small bass and panfish are caught here, but there are better locations. Noxontown is about 4 feet deep on average, but most of the shoreline up close, is in 1-2 feet of water. The water is always stained to muddy, so your selections of lures and colors should reflect that. There are just hundreds of trees, rocks, gravel, sand, and laydowns, so you need to know where to spend most of your time. There are various types of vegetation, including lots of lily pads, that rise above the surface. The extreme upper end, is shallow and muddy, and holds less large bass than other sections of the lake.

The first place to start is the North shore, about 200 yards up from the school. This area is best probed with spinnerbait and buzzbaits first for active fish, but it is definitely a jig or tube area. Work all this cover, (and there will be a lot of it), with a 3/8 oz. Black/blue jig with a Zoom or Uncle Josh trailer. Work each limb on the laydowns, and move in to the bases, before moving on to...

Octoraro Creek
15 miles away
Not at all deep, wide and shallow, nice parking but if you get to the very end where Octoraro Creek meets the Susquehanna it can get pretty nasty. Good place to train beginers but if they go out too far you may never see them again. Somedays the current at the mouth gets to be too much unless you have a rider picking you up downstream a couple miles....

Octoraro Creek
17 miles away
This is a great run, especially after heavy rains.  You can turn this 6 mile trip into a 21 mile trip by putting in at Octoraro Lake, on Rt 472, Oxford PA...

Susquehanna River Reservoir

It's believed that the Susquehanna river once went thru Lancaster, PA. north of Chickies rock, until a volcano cause it to redirect where it is now....
