Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Gwynns Falls, and don't forget to go to Blackhole Creek while you're here. At Park Lake during the months of summer highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 60's. Near Park Lake you find a golf course called Bay Hills Golf Club, and after a long day outdoors Village Inn is a good place to spend a night or two. Lakes? always stop at nearby Fresh Pond. A visit to North Severn Beach in the neighborhood of Park Lake is always a wonderful idea, and the peak of Eagle Hill can be seen from Park Lake. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place!
Park Lake rocks! Why not stop at a swamp like Blackhole Creek Bog if you're here at Park Lake; if you're visiting from Baltimore-Towson, you won't be the only one. All the outdoors exciting stuff close to Park Lake will keep you coming
back repeatedly. There are great spots to look at along the Duck Inn Trail. Why not camp at Millersville Koa Kampground while you're here at Park Lake, and there are some splendid whitewater spots on Herring Run. This lake is
so wonderful. R J Campground is a perfect local campground, and going for a hike on the Boxes Point Trail is always a perfect adventure.

Burba Lake

A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. All in all, though I'm not a great writer...this is a wonderful and sere... |

 | 28 miles away Regular camping fees at this time (06/08) are $16/night. I have been camping at Greenbelt Park every summer for a week for the last 7 years. It was always at $14 up till last year when it went up to $16. Great Park though! Love it!... |
