The beauty of Northampton Lake attracts many people from all around. This lake is so wonderful. Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites I-95 CAPITOL BELTWAY-LARGO is a glorious place to get some rest, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Panhandle Trail. And if you're still looking for more outdoors enjoyable stuff just keep reading. This lake is so wonderful. | | Lake is Cherry Hill Park. Dry warm beds await you at Radisson Hotel Largo-Washington DC, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Northampton Lake; Loop Trail is a brilliant local trail. A lake nearby is Collington Lake; Bald Hill Branch is one of the streams close by that might be worth a visit. levels of rain; May is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is January. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Anacostia River - Northwest Branch, and you're sure
to come across some good folks from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria here. And if that's not enough, there's loads more to do in close proximity to Northampton Lake. Camping at Duncan's Family Campground is always a pleasant experience;
Northampton Lake is not the only location nearby, Allen Pond is a nearby lake. At Northampton Lake during the summertime highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and throughout
the dark hours in the winter at Northampton Lake temperatures dip to the 20's. Why not take a look at Northampton Lake Dam if you're here, and magnificent hiking is available along the Magnolia Trail.

 | I often take my kids to the park at Greenbelt Lake. The playground is very big and they have a ton of fun. There are things there suitable for all kids ages. We also go around the lake, me running and them riding thier bikes. the trail and lake are beautiful and shaded - which is wonderful during the hot days in the summer.... |
Burba Lake
 | 11 miles away 1 PHOTO ...ed on the Ft. Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. A... |
