If you are traveling by, why not stop by Laurel Lake. There's just no way someone can get bored here at Laurel Lake. During your trip to Laurel Lake you'll meet some people from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria for sure, and enjoy a round of golf at Gunpowder Golf Course. At Laurel Lake during the summer highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are commonly in the 40's; overnight lows at Laurel Lake throughout

| | the winter mostly sink into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. If you haven’t been to Greenbelt Park, you must schedule some time for it if you're here. There's so much to do here at Laurel Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sports International is a magnificent location for that.

at Scotts Cove Campground. Good hiking is available along the Western Ridge Trail, and if you're here, you could also check out lovely Rocky Gorge Reservoir. Blue Pond is a nearby lake that you could explore, and Fairfield Inn By
Marriott Laurel is a pleasant site to get some rest.
It's a wonderful idea to stop by Bear Branch, it's in close proximity to Laurel Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Little Patuxent River for all you adrenaline
rush seekers, and you can go for a hike on the Valley Trail. Laurel Lake gets lots of water; May is when you get the most rain here; January on the other hand is the driest.
If you need a location to stay Comfort Suites Laurel Lakes is a tremendous choice; there are splendid places to look at along the White Horse Trail.

| I often take my kids to the park at Greenbelt Lake. The playground is very big and they have a ton of fun. There are things there suitable for all kids ages. We also go around the lake, me running and them riding thier bikes. the trail and lake are beautiful and shaded - which is wonderful during the hot days in the summer.... |

...e, located on the Ft. Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the mi... |
