Going for a hike on the Potomac Heritage Trail is always a nice adventure, and at Lake Walker Dam close to Lake Whetstone there are some attention-grabbing things to see. High temperatures at Lake Whetstone all through the warmest time of the year are in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Lake Whetstone dipping down into the 20's

| | during winter nights. If you need a place to stay Wyndham Garden Gaithersburg is a good choice; on a great day you can take a hike along the Paw Paw Passage Trail. There's so much to do here at Lake Whetstone that you need to camp here for a while, Valley Mill Camp is a great place for that; there are some great whitewater spots on Little Seneca Creek. is a close by lake, and needless to say Beaverbrook flows through this region. From a precipitation point of view Lake Whetstone is a pretty common location; the wettest month of the year is usually May, that's the one that rains
the most, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There is a glorious hiking trail near Lake Whetstone called the Meadow Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then,
we recommend Potomac River. If you're a golfer then a great close by course is Laytonsville Golf Course; a lake close by is Lake Walker. What a site this is for outdoors folks. Lake Whetstone is tremendous enough to spend more
than a day at, New Hope Valley Campground is a tremendous local campground, and Holiday Inn GAITHERSBURG is a good site to get some rest. During your trip to Lake Whetstone you'll meet some folks from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria for sure.
