You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Ski Liberty while you're here; New Hope Valley Campground is a nice local campground. This lake is so wonderful. There is a tremendous hiking trail close to Lake Merle called the High Rock Nature Trail, and Owens Creek is a great whitewater spot nearby. On a wonderful       day at Lake Merle you can take a hike along the Cunningham Falls Nature Trail; why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Holly Hills Country Club. All the water falling down from the sky makes Lake Merle a wet spot; all through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February. A magnificent location for whitewater paddling near Lake Merle is Bennett Creek, and an out of the ordinary thing to pop by in                  close proximity to Lake Merle is Meadowlake Dam. Summer at Lake Merle arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Lake Merle drop into the 20's. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool things at Lake Merle. There are other places here than Lake Merle, for example Lake Anita Louise, and Econo Lodge Frederick is a magnificent place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Frederick Travelodge is a good choice, and close by you locate the Spiderbush Nature Trail which is a fine hiking trail.
