Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Duck Pond; Hampton Inn Baltimore/Glen Burnie is a great spot to get some rest. Not far from Hidden Pond, you'll hit upon Bunks Pond which is a lovely lake; float down the rapids of Gwynns Falls in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Glen Burnie is a glorious site to spend a night or two, and if you come at the right time of year, Herring Run offers

| | some great whitewater. Hidden Pond gets a lot of water; most of the rain falls through May, and January meanwhile is the driest month.
Having a great time at Hidden Pond is trouble-free. Holiday Mobile Estates is a magnificent local campground; Bear Branch is one of the streams close by that might be worth stopping at. The warmest time of the year at Hidden Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly chillier of course, | |

usually in the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Hidden Pond. This lake is so wonderful. The panoramas at Greenbelt Park will blow your mind.

an overnight stay Millersville Koa Kampground is a perfect place to camp; playing golf is lots of fun at Chartwell Golf & Country Club. Why not explore Brooksbys Point also since you're here; if you're popping by from Baltimore-Towson, you won't be the only one.

...Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. All in all, tho... |

Regular camping fees at this time (06/08) are $16/night. I have been camping at Greenbelt Park every summer for a week for the last 7 years. It was always at $14 up till last year when it went up to $16. Great Park though! Love it!... |
