If you like lakes and you're in this part of Maryland you can check out Emmitsburg Reservoir. Do explore Rainbow Lake in close proximity to Emmitsburg Reservoir, it's a beautiful lake; if you're visiting from Gettysburg, you won't be the only one. Be careful coming to Emmitsburg Reservoir, you might not ever want to go back home again. Carrick Knob is clearly visible from Emmitsburg Reservoir; get soaked paddling on Hunting Creek. the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Emmitsburg Reservoir is brilliant fun, Crow's Nest Campground is a brilliant local campground; unsurprisingly, all our national parks are nice sites to stop by and
Catoctin Mountain Park is no exception.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not go to Emmitsburg Dam while you're here, and Granite Hill Campground is a magnificent campground here. Head up to Ski Liberty and strap some skis to your
feet. Whitewater paddling is nice on Owens Creek, and you could always look at Hampton Valley.
Go for a hike on the High Rock Nature Trail, and after a long day outdoors Sleep Inn , Inn & Suites is a great site to spend a night
or two. Don't leave Emmitsburg Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Cunningham Falls Nature Trail, and if you need a place to stay Thurmont Super 8 Motel is a fine choice. During the summer months at Emmitsburg Reservoir
highs are usually in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 60's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Emmitsburg Reservoir dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
