     In the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Anacostia River - Northwest Branch, and going for a hike on the Panhandle Trail is always a great adventure. If you go for the outdoors, you'll like Dower House Pond. Sleep Inn & Suites Upper Marlboro is a glorious location to get some rest, and folks from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria love to come here. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Dower House Pond. Summer  
   night lows dip down to the 70's. During the wintertime highs are commonly in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Dower House Pond during the wintertime commonly plunge into the 20's. A wonderful location for whitewater paddling near Dower House Pond is Anacostia River; nearby you discover the Loop Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail.
Dower House Pond is a good spot of normal rainfall; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain; February
 
               is the month with the least moisture. If you came for an overnight stay Cedarville State Park is a great spot to camp, and stopping by Fort Washington Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet. This lake is so wonderful. Duncan's Family Campground is a nice campground nearby; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Schoolhouse Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. Playing golf is lots of fun at Marlton Golf Club; the Magnolia Trail is a good hiking trail nearby. Visit Dower House Pond Branch since you're here at Dower House Pond. After a long day outdoors Colony South is a good site to spend a night or two; naturally, this is a great area for people who like lakes, Pence Pond is a lake in close proximity.

Regular camping fees at this time (06/08) are $16/night. I have been camping at Greenbelt Park every summer for a week for the last 7 years. It was always at $14 up till last year when it went up to $16. Great Park though! Love it!...

I often take my kids to the park at Greenbelt Lake. The playground is very big and they have a ton of fun. There are things there suitable for all kids ages. We also go around the lake, me running and them riding thier bikes. the trail and lake are beautiful and shaded - which is wonderful during the hot days in the summer....

...Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. All in all, tho...
