You have to take a look at Cedar Point when you're here at Cow Pond; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at nearby Elkton Reservoir. All the water falling down from the sky makes Cow Pond a wet place; the month with most of the rain is August while February is regularly the driest month. At Cow Pond through the warm months highs are in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The

| | wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Cow Pond dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Hampton Inn Elkton MD is a good place to get some rest. Lakes? Sure, Emily Point Disposal Area Lake is around here. for whitewater paddling is Big Elk Creek. And if that's not enough, there's a lot more to do near Cow Pond. If you came for an overnight stay Lums Pond State Park is a magnificent place to camp, and don't forget to take a delightful
little tour to Big Elk Creek. A tremendous close by hotel is Knights Inn Elkton, and camping is available at Woodlands Camping Resort. This lake is so wonderful. If you're dropping by Cow Pond from Dover, you won't be the only one.

Noxontown Lake
 | 12 miles away 1 PHOTO ...want to work this lake properly. Work these lures all the way to the next cove on your right, then move up the lake about 200 yards, and start over again. These areas all hold large bass in the 4-8 pound category, and could come anywhere along this shore. Bass in excess of 9 pounds were caught at Noxontown in the past, which is why it received so much pressure. Very large bass still reside here, but the numbers have declined over the years. In 1999, I caught and released a 10. 1 pound largemouth from Noxontown, that was just ounces off the state record. The primary forage is panfish, white perch, and shad, but there are a good number of Golden Shiner also. This lake also produced the state record White Crappie, over 4 1/2 pounds, which can be viewed at the Tackle Box store, on the main highway, just south of the 13 and 40 split, by the Dairy Queen. They have a variety of lures and bait, and can give current lake information also.
The next area to work is the South shoreline by the cabins, and the adjacent cove. Large bass spawn in this area, and will also feed on baitfish and ... |
