Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. Man, is there heaps of fun things to do in the neighborhood of Burba Lake. A pleasant location for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Burba Lake is Little Patuxent River, and you can stay the night at Millersville Koa Kampground. After a long day outdoors Towneplace Suites By Marriott Fort Meade is a good place to spend a night or two, and if you're a golfer then a magnificent close by course is Walden Golf       Club. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Greenbelt Park is a very great location to check out in the vicinity of Burba Lake; there are other places here than Burba Lake, for example 18 Reservoir. The high level of rain makes Burba Lake a pretty wet site; through May this area sees the most rain; January is the month with the least moisture. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard By Marriott Bwi Fort Meade, and Holiday Mobile Estates is a great                  campground nearby. Summer at Burba Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and the night is quite chillier of course, frequently in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; nighttime lows at Burba Lake through the winter commonly fall into the 20's. If you're stopping by Burba Lake from Baltimore-Towson, you won't be the only one, and an exciting thing to have a look at close to Burba Lake is Burba Lake Dam.
