18 Reservoir is a lake worth visiting. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at 18 Reservoir you will meet lots of people from close by Baltimore-Towson. Franklin Branch is a beautiful stream that is worth visiting, and Millersville Koa Kampground is a wonderful campground nearby. 18 Reservoir is right next door to Soldier Lake Dam which is a beautiful spot beyond doubt worth checking out; paddling on Little Patuxent River is so much fun.

Not far from 18 Reservoir, you'll find Burba Lake which is a gorgeous lake, and for you golfers we recommend nearby Bowie Golf & Country Club. A perfect nearby hotel is Courtyard By Marriott Bwi Fort Meade, and drift down the rapids of Patapsco River in a kayak.

Fort Meade is a wonderful choice. Lakes are perfect; Soldier Lake is a lake that's close to 18 Reservoir. All through the months of summer highs here at 18 Reservoir reach the 80's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 60's.
For the duration of the winter highs are regularly in the 40's; overnight lows at 18 Reservoir through the winter usually plunge into the 20's.

...on the Ft. Meade army post is a beautiful nature preserve with picnic facilities for large and small groups. A well-maintained path runs around the entire lake where you can normally find soldiers, retirees and their families out for a stroll or a leisurely run. We can all thank the tightening of security due to terrorism for making the lake's having less access. You must have proper ID (Government/Military issued ID) to enter the post, unless it is pre-arranged such as for family reunions and such. The Ft. Meade MWR people take good care of the lake and it's surroundings and nature teems. You will normally find ducks and geese swimming in the lake, some have made it their home. Migratory birds also have put this lake on their itinerary! There is fishing in the lake and also a healthy turtle population. Beavers also have taken up residence in one area and by some of the ''missing'' trees you can tell that they have been there. There is also a resident blue heron that can often be found on the shore of the lake or amongst the greenery on the little island in the middle. All ... |

Regular camping fees at this time (06/08) are $16/night. I have been camping at Greenbelt Park every summer for a week for the last 7 years. It was always at $14 up till last year when it went up to $16. Great Park though! Love it!... |

I often take my kids to the park at Greenbelt Lake. The playground is very big and they have a ton of fun. There are things there suitable for all kids ages. We also go around the lake, me running and them riding thier bikes. the trail and lake are beautiful and shaded - which is wonderful during the hot days in the summer.... |
