Whittemore Pond is not far at all from Boston-Cambridge-Quincy; beaches are wonderful and Silver Lake Town Beach is no exception. There's so much to do here at Whittemore Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Camp Cedar is a nice place for that; everyone close by loves skiing at Blue Hills. All through the months of summer, highs ordinarily are in the 80's at Whittemore Pond. Summer overnight lows sink down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime

| | come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Whittemore Pond temperatures drop to the 10's. Now, you may think that's loads but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Whittemore Pond. Halls Brook is a stream that you may bump into while here; Unicorn Golf Club is a fine golf course close by. North Reservoir Dam is worth checking out while you're here, and float down the rapids of Concord River in a kayak. A great nearby hotel | |

is Comfort Inn Woburn; here at Whittemore Pond you can spot Bear Hill. This lake is so wonderful. Do take a look at Burbank Pond near Whittemore Pond, it's a wonderful lake, and the skiing at Bradford is good. Not enough hours
in a day to enjoy this place. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Whittemore Pond has to offer, you can camp at Lorraine Park Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Charles River offers some good whitewater.
This lake is so wonderful. A swamp like Kimballs Pond in close proximity to Whittemore Pond has lots of out of the ordinary things to see, and a visit to Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area is recommended. A lot of
rain falls at Whittemore Pond; November is the month that gets the most rain while August is frequently the driest month. If you need a place to stay Best Western New Englander is a perfect choice; you'll stumble on a stunning lake called Burbank Pond.

Lake Cochichewick
 | 11 miles away Lake Cochichewick formerly known as Great Pond, is located near the inersections of rt 125 and Great Pond Road in North Andover MA. The lake is a little over 200 acres and long and narrow but widens quite a bit in the middle. The average depth near in the midde is about 40ft however the lake can reach depths of up to 60ft. The lake is a protected reservoir so fishing and boating are by town permit only. Swimming and gas moters are prohibited. Large and small mouth bass are in decent numbers as well as perch, pickerel, sunfish, also there is Northern Pike around but few have hooked up one in the summer season. Mercury level are fairly high so it is recomended to limit the consumption of fish to 1 meal a month. Most of the locals you will meet on the lake are all artificial bait, catch and release fisherman.... |
