The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Catamount, and not far from West Lake you obtain some tremendous water scenery at West Lake Dam. Lakes? Sure, Morley Swamp Reservoir is in close proximity, and Ski Butternut is a very popular ski area nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Wild Cat Trail, and Fall River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby. Throughout the days of summer here at West Lake, high temperatures
| | | |
| | regularly reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for West Lake. Man, is there a load of entertaining stuff to do in close proximity to West Lake. The Indian Trail offers hiking at its best, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at close by Abbey Lake. If only every location had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great world | |

it would be. West Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Camp Overflow is a good local campground, and swamps don’t sound that delightful but Abbey Swamp near West Lake is quite delightful. This lake is so wonderful. A good
place to camp here at West Lake is Cold Spring Campground, and do take some time to pop by Sandisfield State Forest since you're here. The high level of rainfall makes West Lake a rather wet place; the month with most of the rain
is August; February is when it's the driest. There's wonderful hiking along the Elbow Trail, and after a long day outdoors Americas Best Value Inn Lee is a splendid location to spend a night or two. You get a fine panorama of Abbey
Hill from West Lake, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Farmington River - West Branch. Here at West Lake you'll probably meet some folks from Pittsfield, and Blackberry River Inn is a splendid place to get some rest.
