It's always fun to stop by Walker Pond. Really good skiing awaits you at Wachusett Mountain, and Barker Hill is painless to spot from Walker Pond. Going for a hike on the Mitchell Hill Road is always a glorious adventure; Adams Dam is a beautiful spot, definitely worth going to. | | nearby hotel is Four Points By Sheraton Leominster, and close to Walker Pond you discover a golf course called Townsend Ridge Country Club. Townsend State Forest is a fine local forest; you can go for a hike on the Old Country Road. Summertime highs at Walker Pond regularly tend to be in the 70's. Summer night lows drop down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Walker Pond. | |

This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Leominster/Fitchburg Super 8 Motel is a wonderful spot to spend a night or two; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Squannacook River Reservoir.
You completely should fancy Walker Pond. Here at Walker Pond there are plenty of people from Manchester-Nashua; there are great places to look at along the Wapack Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to discover
everything Walker Pond has to offer, you can camp at Field and Stream Travel Trailer Park, and a great site for whitewater paddling is Souhegan River. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. There's so much to do here
at Walker Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Field & Stream Travel Trailer is a glorious place for that. Walker Pond is a wet site that gets lots of rainfall; of all the months in a year November is the one with the most rain while September is regularly the driest month.

Locust Pond
 | 19 miles away 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
