     Bents Pond Dam is charming and it's next to Travers Pond; going for a hike along the White Dot Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. This place, Travers Pond, it absolutely has so much outdoors fun stuff. Get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Contoocook River, and Travers Pond is a site with many visitors from Worcester. This lake is so wonderful. Super 8 Gardner is a great place to get some rest, and since you might  
   be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at close by Ramsdall Pond. Travers Pond is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Peaceful Pines is a magnificent local campground, and since you're here, you could go to Baker Brook.
This lake is so wonderful. Have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Parker Trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Millers River. Take a hike on the Harling Trail,
 
               and dry warm beds await you at Colonial Hotel. But wait, there's more to do in the vicinity of Travers Pond. You get a glorious view of Barber Hill from Travers Pond, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Wachusett Mountain if you're here.
There's so much to do here at Travers Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Howe's Camping is a perfect location for that. Lakes are perfect; Shiner Pond is a lake that's near Travers Pond. You can never get enough of the great skiing at Pine Ridge, and if you're a golfer then a good close by course is Gardner Municipal Golf Course.
At Travers Pond through the months of summer highs are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 50's. Through the winter highs are mostly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Travers Pond are in the 0's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Travers Pond a wet place; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.

This Lake with little public access. Forget about using a motor boat. A canoe/kayak maybe. Fishing may be ok, but don't keep/eat what you catch. MA has serious mercury warnings posted....

Rode it today.... lost 5 canoes on it as it rained last night and transformed into Class IV rapids.... Luckily we rescued 1 canoe and all 12 people got safely off of the river....

Ahhh good ol Heywood's used to be a great lake for swimming with rope swings that threw you out 80 feet into the water. but since then many things have changed people caught on to the fun nites out there , and police started showing up and now the whole place ''all the trees'' have been cut down  above the apple orchard, so no swimming there or you will be hit with a fine of up to 500$...
