Thompson Pond is a nice lake to visit. The summit of Bassett Hill can be distinguished from Thompson Pond, and if you came to camp Lakeridge Campground is a pleasant place to do that. This lake is so wonderful. You imagine that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Bow Brook is a delightful site to check out, as expected you could also check out Bassett Pond while you're here; it's not far at all. Camping at Wagon wheel Camping Area is always a fine experience;

Millers River
Rode it today.... lost 5 canoes on it as it rained last night and transformed into Class IV rapids.... Luckily we rescued 1 canoe and all 12 people got safely off of the river....

Barton Cove Campground
14 miles away I have been going there for over 20 years. It is a great place to take a family and if you are lucky, you will get to see the bald eagles (I actually got to see their first flight)....Lovely campground with huge, clean wooded tent sites. Some sites overlook the Connecticut River, and a few offer access to a swimming or fishing beach. There are some high cliffs on the river side of the campground, partly blocked with post and rail fencing. Small children may not respect the fences, so that should be considered when families with kids choose their site. Overall very enjoyable, and I look forward to returning soon....
Forest Lake
14 miles away Firstly, Forest Lake does not offer any camping whatsoever, public or private. There is a Jewish retreat camp within 1/2 mile of Forest Lake, however that is not open to the public and is not on Forest Lake itself. Camp Ramah is on Pattaquattic Pond. In neighboring Monson, MA, there is a camp, but that is about 10 miles from the only access point offered to the public on Forest Lake, and is also not connected to Forest Lake in any way. Forest Lake in Palmer, MA, only has about 100 ft. of publicly accessible shore, probably about fifty of which is a swimmer's beach. Fishing is allowed. You can launch boats, but there is a 10 mph and 10 hp limit for motoring. Currently, the restaurant and bar across the street, ''Doyle's'', previously ''Lakeview Lounge'' is closed. Palmer is a lovely, quiet town off of the interstate with few accomodations for those looking to stay overnight, nevermind camp. Campers should look elsewhere and day-trip to Palmer if they want to try their luck at this small-town community beach....

Factory Hollow Pond
16 miles away This pond is known by everyone as Puffer's pond and I've never heard it called this before. In the summer there are a lot of swimmers, but it makes good early morning fishing....
Pine Acres Family Camping Resort
19 miles away Great place, everything you need for a fun time. We camped in tents, electricity and water at sights that were roomy enough for tent and screen house. Canoe rentals, rod rental and bait, beach and a pool, good hiking trails ( with wild bluberries and blackberries). Most important clean bathrooms nothing worse than a camp ground with crappy facilities (forgive the pun)..Ben a couple of times great place!!...
