Squannacook River Reservoir is a nice lake to visit. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are delightful; Graves Pond is a lake that's in the neighborhood of Squannacook River Reservoir, and if you're visiting from Manchester-Nashua, you won't be the only one. After a long day outdoors Leominster/Fitchburg Super 8 Motel is a magnificent site to spend a night or two; Townsend State Forest is a tremendous forest vicinity nearby. Adams Dam has good water scenery

| | and it's next to Squannacook River Reservoir; you can go for a hike on the Wapack Trail. What a location this is for outdoors people. Good hiking is available along the Old Country Road. Wachusett Mountain is a very popular ski area close at hand, and a great swamp right next door to Squannacook River Reservoir is Dead Swamp. Park, and for you golfers we recommend close by Townsend Ridge Country Club. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff in close proximity to Squannacook River Reservoir. There are nice spots to explore along the Mitchell
Hill Road. There's so much to do here at Squannacook River Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Field & Stream Travel Trailer is a wonderful place for that. Squannacook River Reservoir commonly gets a lot of rain; November is the month that gets the most rain; the driest month is September.

Locust Pond
 | 19 miles away 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
