If you are in this part of Massachusetts make sure to pay a visit to Royal Pond. There are some perfect whitewater spots on Farmington River - West Branch; don't leave Royal Pond without first going for a hike along the Wild Cat Trail. You absolutely have to fancy Royal Pond. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Fall River; after a long day outdoors Pilgrim Inn is a great place to spend a night or two. You think that's sufficient?

| | Just getting warmed up. If you get bored of Royal Pond, you could also explore close by Abbey Lake, and you can hit the slopes at Ski Butternut close by.
This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Elbow Trail; Royal Pond is not the only site nearby, York Lake is a nearby lake. ordinary sites, go to Geisler Swamp while you're here at Royal Pond; at Royal Pond you can spot Berkshire Hills.
A lot of precipitation falls at Royal Pond; during the month of August you get the most rain around here; February
meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Royal Pond is a great site to visit for more than one day, Camp Overflow is a great site to camp nearby, and during your spree here you'll meet some folks from Pittsfield for
sure.
The Berkshire Hills is one of the things that make Royal Pond so great, and a great close by hotel is Lee Super 8 Motel. Mountain View Campground is a good campground nearby, and Catamount is a very popular ski area around
here. Through the warm days of summer at Royal Pond temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and the overnight is somewhat cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime the highs are typically in the 30's; after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Royal Pond descend into the 10's.
