Custom Search     Populatic Pond     My first and only time on Populatic was in the summer of 1940. With two friends, all about 18 years of age, we put a borrowed canoe in the Chares River at Dedham MA, and paddled up river to what we referred to as Lake Populatic. We had a tent, primitive camping gear, and precious little money. It was a good thing we all liked fish -we ate a lot. We picked a campsite across the lake away from the few cottages. I carved a letter opener with my jackknife     in the form of a knife. I write this from CA where I am visiting my family. The letter opener is still used daily to open mail. Says Scotty Lake Populatic is a small water basin fed by the charles river. I own a home on the water and can tell you the only thing it is good for is fishing. The majority of the lake is filled with fallen trees, and if you swim your clothes will stain yellow.
