A fine nearby hotel is Passport Inn Methuen, and unsurprisingly, this is a nice area for folks who like lakes, Cedar Pond is a lake around here. At Peters Pond you can observe Nickel Mine Hill, and hey, Gotta ski right? Bradford is a great location to do that. All the outdoors cool things in the neighborhood of Peters Pond will keep you coming back persistently. | | skiing is what you get at McIntyre. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at CDM, and not far from Peters Pond you get some nice water scenery at Peters Pond Dam. A visit to Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area is worthwhile. After a long day outdoors SpringHill Suites Boston Andover is a good place to spend a night or two; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Forest Lake. Campground while you're here at Peters Pond, and there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Concord River. High temperatures at Peters Pond throughout the days of summer are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to
the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Peters Pond drop into the 0's. The amount of rainfall that falls at Peters Pond is close to the national average;
November is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. People from Boston-Cambridge-Quincy love to come to Peters Pond; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Merrimack River.

Lake Cochichewick
 | 11 miles away Lake Cochichewick formerly known as Great Pond, is located near the inersections of rt 125 and Great Pond Road in North Andover MA. The lake is a little over 200 acres and long and narrow but widens quite a bit in the middle. The average depth near in the midde is about 40ft however the lake can reach depths of up to 60ft. The lake is a protected reservoir so fishing and boating are by town permit only. Swimming and gas moters are prohibited. Large and small mouth bass are in decent numbers as well as perch, pickerel, sunfish, also there is Northern Pike around but few have hooked up one in the summer season. Mercury level are fairly high so it is recomended to limit the consumption of fish to 1 meal a month. Most of the locals you will meet on the lake are all artificial bait, catch and release fisherman.... |
Locust Pond
 | 12 miles away 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
