What a nice lake Mud Pond is. Get soaked paddling on Clear and Branch, and the slopes of Wachusett Mountain are so inviting noone can resist. Coal Mine Brook flows through this area, and you can stay the night at Sutton Falls Camping Area. If only every site had this much outdoors entertaining stuff, what a great earth it would be. If you like swamps, you're in luck, Slocum Meadow is right nearby, and Newton Pond Dam has good water scenery. Man, is there loads

Mud Pond without first going for a hike along the Ross Trail. This lake is so wonderful. The Walkabout Trail offers hiking at its best, and in close proximity to Mud Pond you come across a golf course called MT Pleasant Country Club.
Mud Pond gets much water; the wettest month of the year is generally November, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is September.
