from close by Springfield, and if you need a site to stay The Hotel Northampton is a brilliant choice. All the water falling down from the sky makes Mountain Street Reservoir a wet place; November is the month that gets the most rain;
the driest month of the year is February.
This lake is so wonderful. Visit Broad Brook while you're here at Mountain Street Reservoir; you can run the rapids of Connecticut River. This site is peerless, just look at all the exciting
stuff to do near Mountain Street Reservoir. Head up to Blandford and strap some skis to your feet. If you want to hit the beach, Sandy Beach is nearby, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mountain Street Reservoir; Richard
Trail is a great local trail.

My Mother was born in Easthampton-Wanat house near pond-Williston Ave. I am a former member of citizens restoring Congamond. There used to be a lot of fish - but now only bluegills -Millfoil is one of invasive weeds in pond. Pond over years has a lot of garbage thrown in it-used to swim there- would not dare now especially where beach used to be.... |

I have been going there for over 20 years. It is a great place to take a family and if you are lucky, you will get to see the bald eagles (I actually got to see their first flight)....Lovely campground with huge, clean wooded tent sites. Some sites overlook the Connecticut River, and a few offer access to a swimming or fishing beach. There are some high cliffs on the river side of the campground, partly blocked with post and rail fencing. Small children may not respect the fences, so that should be considered when families with kids choose their site. Overall very enjoyable, and I look forward to returning soon.... |
