Carl Johnson: Not much there now, but I recall skating and fishing there back in 1946.........the winter ice was always thick, and the fishing was pretty good too..........rode my bike from Burlington.

A perfect vista of gorgeous Blueberry Mountain is available from Mishawum Lake; Camp Cedar is a tremendous campground nearby. For the duration of the warm months here at Mishawum Lake, high temperatures typically reach the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 30's; night lows in the 10's for Mishawum Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling

Visiting Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and if you came for an overnight stay Lorraine Park Campground is a great place to camp. unsurprisingly you could also pop by Pomps Pond if you're here; it's not far at all. What would winter be without some skiing at Blue Hills, and if you've had enough of Mishawum Lake, Burbank Pond is close by. Beaches are glorious;
and Silver Lake Town Beach close to Mishawum Lake is no exception; hey, Gotta ski right? Bradford is a perfect site to do that. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. Here at Mishawum Lake you'll possibly meet some people
from Boston-Cambridge-Quincy; Concord River is a delightful whitewater spot close by. Mishawum Lake is a quite wet place commonly with a good deal of rain; November is the wettest month with most rain, and August is when it's the
driest. Dry warm beds await you at Courtyard Boston Woburn; do explore Halls Brook while you're here at Mishawum Lake.

Lake Cochichewick
 | 10 miles away Lake Cochichewick formerly known as Great Pond, is located near the inersections of rt 125 and Great Pond Road in North Andover MA. The lake is a little over 200 acres and long and narrow but widens quite a bit in the middle. The average depth near in the midde is about 40ft however the lake can reach depths of up to 60ft. The lake is a protected reservoir so fishing and boating are by town permit only. Swimming and gas moters are prohibited. Large and small mouth bass are in decent numbers as well as perch, pickerel, sunfish, also there is Northern Pike around but few have hooked up one in the summer season. Mercury level are fairly high so it is recomended to limit the consumption of fish to 1 meal a month. Most of the locals you will meet on the lake are all artificial bait, catch and release fisherman.... |
