There is a Jewish retreat camp within 1/2 mile of Forest Lake, however that is not open to the public and is not on Forest Lake itself. Camp Ramah is on Pattaquattic Pond. In neighboring Monson, MA, there is a camp, but that is about 10 miles from the only access point offered to the public on Forest Lake, and is also not connected to Forest Lake in any way. Forest Lake in Palmer, MA, only has about 100 ft. of publicly accessible shore, probably about fifty of which is a swimmer's beach. Fishing is allowed. You can launch boats, but there is a 10 mph and 10 hp limit for motoring. Currently, the restaurant and bar across the street, ''Doyle's'', previously ''Lakeview Lounge'' is closed. Palmer is a lovely, quiet town off of the interstate with few accomodations for those looking to stay overnight, nevermind camp. Campers should look elsewhere and day-trip to Palmer if they want to try their luck at this small-town community beach. Forest Lake Dam has fine water scenery and it's next to Forest Lake, and skiing at Pine Ridge is one of those things you just must do. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do near Forest Lake. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn & Suites is a perfect choice, and a great spot to camp here at Forest Lake is Sunsetview Farm Camping Area. Dry warm beds await you at Wilbraham Inn, and       some close by water includes Penny Brook. Lakes? Sure, Ware River Reservoir is close by, and camping is available at Partridge Hollow Campground. This lake is so wonderful. There are some splendid whitewater spots on Connecticut River. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always check out close by Pattaquattic Pond, and playing golf is lots of fun at Valhalla at Quaboag Country Club. Forest Lake gets a great deal                  of water; the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month is February. All through the summertime months highs here at Forest Lake get into the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Forest Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
