McIntyre is a very popular ski area close at hand, of course you could also have a look at Long Sought-for Pond since you're here; it's not far at all. This lake is so wonderful. and Concord River is a good whitewater spot close by. Flushing Pond sees pretty high levels of precipitation; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while September is mostly the driest month. The warmest time
of the year brings highs in the 70's to Flushing Pond with overnight lows in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Flushing Pond. This place, Flushing Pond,
it just has so much outdoors fun stuff. Flushing Pond is great enough to spend more than a day at, Wyman's Beach is a great local campground, and the top of Flushing Hill is easily observed from Flushing Pond.

Locust Pond
 | 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
