For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Fawn Lake reach the 80's; the overnight is a bit cooler of course, regularly in the 50's. During the wintertime the highs are ordinarily in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Fawn Lake. | | close by, Combes Pond is a close by lake, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Catamount. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Bash Bish Brook; going for a hike on the Indian Trail is always a wonderful adventure. Combes Dam is a stunning place close to Fawn Lake, and get drenched paddling on Housatonic River. If the weather is gorgeous, you get a fine vista of Bears Den from Fawn Lake. Great Barrington Days Inn is a pleasant site to spend a night or two; you can go for a hike on the Northrop Trail. Fawn Lake gets a common amount of yearly rain; the month with most of the rain is May, and February meanwhile is the
driest month. Looking for something in the vicinity of Fawn Lake? Berkshire Trout Pond is around here; playing golf is lots of fun at Egremont Country Club. This lake is so wonderful. Lots of folks from Pittsfield come to Fawn

Hilltop Pond
 | 17 miles away Hilltop Pond is a beautiful private pond. It's owned by the home owner on the top of the hill to the west and other adjoining land owners have pond rights. It's quite shallow, so it will always be in need of constant cleaning. The 42 acre pond is home to loads of wildlife and is the prime souce of water flowing into Macedonia State Park.
An interesting fact: The dam, rebuilt in the early 90's is made up of concrete blocks, each weighing over a ton. Environmental regulations wouldn't allow pouring cement into forms, so the large number of blocks were layed in place, held in place only by their individaul mass.
Jimmy Walker, the mayor of NYC would visit Hilltop Lodge, with his buddies. Hilltop Lodge was located on the west side of Weber Road where the road takes a bend well above about mid point in the length of the pond. The lodge burned to the ground in the 50's. There was no structure on the property from then until 1984, when the home to the north was constructed.... |
