Get yourself into a kayak and hit Assabet River, and people from Manchester-Nashua love to come here. Holiday Inn BOXBOROUGH (I-495 EXIT 28) is a delightful site to get some rest, and naturally, this is a perfect neighborhood for people who like lakes, Springy Pond is a lake in the vicinity. You just should like Duck Pond. Duck Pond is good enough to spend more than a day at, Boston Minuteman Campground is a good local campground. This lake is so wonderful.

| | If you want to hit the beach, Harvard Town Beach is in the vicinity, and not far from Duck Pond you obtain some good water scenery at Lost Lake Dam. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff to do are truly abundant here at Duck Pond. A round of golf at nearby Groton Country Club is a pleasant way to kill some time; if you need a place to stay Residence Inn Boston Westford is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. Pond, and on a tremendous day you can take a look at Burnt Meadow Swamp, a swamp right next door to Duck Pond. During the months of summer at Duck Pond highs are mostly in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the
50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; overnight lows at Duck Pond throughout the winter commonly sink into the 10's. On a great day at Duck Pond you can take a hike along the Mitchell Hill Road, and you're probably into
lakes, Lost Lake is one of those nearby. Duck Pond is a quite wet place mostly with a large amount of rainfall; all through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is September. If
you come at the right time of year, Concord River offers some great whitewater; camping at Minuteman KOA is always a good experience. The skiing at McIntyre is magnificent, and as expected Baddacook Brook flows through this area.

 | 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |
