A tour to Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area is worthwhile, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Concord River. This lake is so wonderful. The Middlesex Fells towers over Dark Hollow Pond; the skiing at Blue Hills is good. Summertime highs at Dark Hollow Pond usually tend to be in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's while Dark Hollow Pond night low temperatures throughout the winter

| | are in the 10's. There's always North Reservoir Dam to take a look at close to Dark Hollow Pond; Lorraine Park Campground is a splendid local campground. Dark Hollow Pond gets lots of water; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain, and August on the other hand is the driest. A lake close by is Spot Pond; Bear Hill can be distinguished from Dark Hollow Pond. Be careful coming to Dark Hollow Pond, you might not ever wanna go back home again. | |

A golf course in the vicinity of Dark Hollow Pond is Stoneham Oaks Golf Course, and why not camp at Camp Cedar if you're here at Dark Hollow Pond. After a long day outdoors Best Western New Englander is a wonderful spot to spend
a night or two. On a glorious day you can stop by Kimballs Pond, a swamp next to Dark Hollow Pond, and Dike Pond is a nearby lake that you could stop at. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of folks from Boston-Cambridge-Quincy
here; get yourself into a kayak and hit Charles River. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Bradford is close to Dark Hollow Pond; do take a look at Brooks Brook since you're here at Dark Hollow Pond. If you want a nice time in
the great outdoors, just come on down to Dark Hollow Pond. Comfort Inn Woburn is a great site to get some rest; one of the best things about this spot is its proximity to Orient Heights Beach.

Lake Cochichewick
 | 12 miles away Lake Cochichewick formerly known as Great Pond, is located near the inersections of rt 125 and Great Pond Road in North Andover MA. The lake is a little over 200 acres and long and narrow but widens quite a bit in the middle. The average depth near in the midde is about 40ft however the lake can reach depths of up to 60ft. The lake is a protected reservoir so fishing and boating are by town permit only. Swimming and gas moters are prohibited. Large and small mouth bass are in decent numbers as well as perch, pickerel, sunfish, also there is Northern Pike around but few have hooked up one in the summer season. Mercury level are fairly high so it is recomended to limit the consumption of fish to 1 meal a month. Most of the locals you will meet on the lake are all artificial bait, catch and release fisherman.... |
