If you come at the right time of year, Assabet River offers some great whitewater, and Lower Pawtucket Canal Reservoir is a glorious lake nearby. Drift down the rapids of Concord River in a kayak, and Bradford is a magnificent local ski area. So much fun stuff to do here at Concord River Reservoir, too great to be true. This lake is so wonderful. The view of Christian Hill from Concord River Reservoir is beautiful It's always splendid to go to Pawtucket Falls. High temperatures
at Concord River Reservoir during the summer are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 50's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with temperatures at Concord River Reservoir dipping down into the 0's through winter
nights. From a rainfall point of view Concord River Reservoir is a relatively normal place; November is the wettest month with most rain; February on the other hand is the driest.

Locust Pond
 | 1 PHOTO Locust Pond is a lake that was formed in 1954 by the creation of the Locust Pond Dam on Locust Brook, which flows from the Locust Pond to the larger Merrimack River. Locust Pond is considered a lake because Mass Regs (310 CMR 10.04) state that a lake is ?any open body of fresh water with a surface area of ten acres or more, and shall include great ponds. The site is bordered by Locust Avenue and light residential development to the northwest, and Route 3 to the southwest. The other half of the perimeter is bordered by dense development. The pond is mostly open water with no emergent marsh development. The upland is all forested. The habitat quality of this site is limited by the development surrounding it, however, it should provide at least transient habitat for aquatic mammals such as beaver, otter, and mink, and many of the upland mammals and migratory songbirds of forested habitats.... |

Lake Cochichewick
 | 14 miles away Lake Cochichewick formerly known as Great Pond, is located near the inersections of rt 125 and Great Pond Road in North Andover MA. The lake is a little over 200 acres and long and narrow but widens quite a bit in the middle. The average depth near in the midde is about 40ft however the lake can reach depths of up to 60ft. The lake is a protected reservoir so fishing and boating are by town permit only. Swimming and gas moters are prohibited. Large and small mouth bass are in decent numbers as well as perch, pickerel, sunfish, also there is Northern Pike around but few have hooked up one in the summer season. Mercury level are fairly high so it is recomended to limit the consumption of fish to 1 meal a month. Most of the locals you will meet on the lake are all artificial bait, catch and release fisherman.... |
