There's whitewater on Farmington River - West Branch for all you thrill seekers, and Basin Pond is not the only location nearby, Greenwater Pond is a nearby lake. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Bousquet while you're here; Mountain View Campground is a splendid local campground. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the Turner Trail, and you'll almost certainly meet some folks from Pittsfield here. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Pilgrim Inn is a nice choice, and what would winter be without some skiing at Catamount.
