    Go to Atwater Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Atwater Pond; Wild Cat Trail is a nice local trail; the summit of Abbey Hill can be made out from Atwater Pond. Summertime highs at Atwater Pond mostly tend to be in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Atwater Pond. At Atwater  
   Pond you always meet someone from Pittsfield, and dry warm beds await you at Knox Trail Inn.
Atwater Pond ordinarily gets a good deal of rainfall; all through August this area sees the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Camp Overflow; swamps can be such out of the ordinary places, pop by Abbey Swamp if you're here at Atwater Pond. Just can't get enough of Atwater
 
               Pond. Ski Sundown has magnificent slopes and a friendly staff, and camping at Cold Spring Campground is always a nice experience.
Why not have a look at nearby Cherry Brook while you're here at Atwater Pond. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Ski Butternut, and there's whitewater on Farmington River - West Branch for all you adrenaline junkies. Not far from Atwater Pond you obtain some fine water scenery at Atwater Pond Dam; Blackberry River Inn is a nice location to get some rest.
The Elbow Trail offers hiking at its best. Lakes are great; Abbey Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to Atwater Pond.
