Atkins Reservoir is a wet spot that gets a large amount of precipitation; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Atkins Reservoir is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Barton Cove Campground is a nice local campground, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Millers River - Lower. Here at Atkins Reservoir there are plenty of people from Springfield, and       if you came to camp Rainbow Motel is a great site to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Really magnificent skiing awaits you at Living Memorial Park. There are some good whitewater spots on Connecticut River, and don't miss out on a nice swamp; Hawley Swamp is right here at Atkins Reservoir. But wait, there's more to do next to Atkins Reservoir. Don't forget to take a good little trip to Dean Brook; an afternoon playing golf at Hickory Ridge Country Club                  is always a bliss. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous close by hotel is Black Walnut Inn, and you're most likely keen on lakes, Lake Boon is one of those nearby. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Atkins Reservoir. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and night lows throughout the wintertime for Atkins Reservoir tend to be in the 0's.
