The high level of precipitation makes Wards Lake a quite wet location; December is the month that gets the most rain while August is generally the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid nearby hotel is Opelousas Days Inn & Suites, and Wards Lake is a nice site to visit for more than one day, Acadiana wilderness Campground is a nice site to camp nearby. If you need a spot to stay The       Bailey Hotel is a good choice, and there are other places here than Wards Lake, for example Indian Lake. At Wards Lake you always meet someone from Opelousas-Eunice, and there's some flowing water nearby, Horsehead Bayou is a stream you can take a look at while here. Not far from Wards Lake, you'll hit upon Dunns Lake which is a striking lake, and you can stay the night at Chicot State Park. Through the summer months at Wards Lake temperatures are mostly                  in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 70's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Wards Lake dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
