After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn ALEXANDRIA-DWTN (CONV CENTER) is a nice spot to spend a night or two; why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Bringhurst Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful.       L B Henry Mobile Home Park is a nice campground nearby. Good hiking is available along the Wild Azalea Trail Kincaid Spur, and do visit Buttonwood Lake, it's a striking lake. Through the summertime at Rock Island Lake highs are typically in the 90's. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 70's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 50's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Rock Island Lake temperatures dip to the 30's. Rolling Hills                  RV Resort is a brilliant local campground, and some interesting geology is available here, Miller Bluff is right here. There are plenty of people from Alexandria here at Rock Island Lake; you can go for a hike on the Magnolia Forest Walk. This lake is so wonderful. Tanyard Branch is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at, and you'll hit upon a gorgeous lake called Tanyard Lake.
