The lake is covered in Lilly Pad and water color is generaly like coffee, and was down in the center where a man could walk all the way across as little as two weeks ago. The recent rain may have brought it up, but the bite for Largemouth has been good. The day use areas was closed, last I heard, but the lowere end boat ramp was used. Here is a pic of the bream and two channel cats from August. It was 99 degrees, but we couldn't stop. Yeah, come here to Lower Caney Lake for a wonderful time. Woods Ranch Recreational Vehicle Park is a glorious local campground. For the period of the warm months at Lower Caney Lake highs are commonly in the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 70's. Highs throughout the winter are typically in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Lower Caney Lake. Lower Caney Lake is a place with many visitors       from Minden, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Minden Inn is a good place to spend a night or two. If you get bored of Lower Caney Lake, you could also check out nearby Upper Caney Lake; Holiday Inn Express Minden, La is a great place to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Caney Lakes is a nearby lake that you could stop by, and if you came for an overnight stay Upper Caney Campground is a great site to camp. Lower Caney Lake gets lots of                  water; the month with most of the rain is March while August is ordinarily the driest month.
