Lower Caney Lake sees pretty high levels of rain. For the duration of March this area sees the most rain; August is when it's the driest. For the period of the warm days of summer at Lower Caney Lake highs are usually in the 90's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 70's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Lower Caney Lake are in the 30's.
Fairly well secluded campsites and clean. All state maintained. The lake is covered in Lilly Pad and water color is generaly like coffee, and was down in the center where a man could walk all the way across as little as two weeks ago. The recent rain may have brought it up, but the bite for Largemouth has been good. The day use areas was closed, last I heard, but the lowere end boat ramp was used. Here is a pic of the bream and two channel cats from August. It was 99 degrees, but we couldn't stop. We fished in the heat so long it felt like a powerful hangover the next day. 286 bream, 2 cats, by 2 dudes, in 1 day!!!
