The lake is covered in Lilly Pad and water color is generaly like coffee, and was down in the center where a man could walk all the way across as little as two weeks ago. The recent rain may have brought it up, but the bite for Largemouth has been good. The day use areas was closed, last I heard, but the lowere end boat ramp was used. Here is a pic of the bream and two channel cats from August. It was 99 degrees, but we couldn't stop. We fished in the heat so long it felt like a powerful hangover the next day. 286 bream, 2 cats, by 2 dudes, in 1 day!!! Not far from Lower Caney Lake you get some wonderful water scenery at Lower Caney Dam, and a magnificent close by hotel is Minden Motel. During the warm months here at Lower Caney Lake, high temperatures usually get into the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 70's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's with temperatures at Lower Caney       Lake dipping down into the 30's during winter nights. Lower Caney Lake is a wet spot that gets a large amount of rain; most of the rain falls throughout March, and the driest month is August. All the outdoors enjoyable stuff in the neighborhood of Lower Caney Lake will keep you coming back repeatedly. Here at Lower Caney Lake there are plenty of folks from Minden, and it's a good idea to check out Brushy Creek. After a long day outdoors Magnolia Motel is                  a pleasant place to spend a night or two, and if you get bored of Lower Caney Lake you could also go to close by Caney Lakes.
