This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Sabine National Forest Trail, and swamps are interesting spots and Big Slough in close proximity to Gum Pond is no exception. Gum Pond ordinarily gets a lot of rainfall; the wettest month of the year is commonly May, that's the one that rains the most, and August on the other hand is the       driest. All through the warm months highs here at Gum Pond get into the 90's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 70's. Highs during the wintertime are generally in the 50's with temperatures at Gum Pond dipping down into the 30's during winter nights.
