Cypress Bayou Reservoir
I absolutely love this lake! I went with a friend to Lousiana and we went here, it was so fun!...
Cross Lake
17 miles away Yea, there's a lot to do on Cross Lake! I've personally been kayaking, jet skiing, boating, and swimming in the lake, and I hear it's a great fishing lake, too. I don't however know if there is a canoe rental place, but it wouldn't surprise me. It is more of a boating, water-sports place more than kayaking and canoeing.. It is a very popular sailing location though!...I would like to know if there is some where to have a wedding/reception on the lake....It would be nice if there was information about recreational activities. Such as boating, kayaking, canoeing etc. Are there avenues to pursue those interests? Canoe rentals, etc....
Lower Caney Lake
18 miles away 1 PHOTO Fairly well secluded campsites and clean. All state maintained. The lake is covered in Lilly Pad and water color is generaly like coffee, and was down in the center where a man could walk all the way across as little as two weeks ago. The recent rain may have brought it up, but the bite for Largemouth has been good. The day use areas was closed, last I heard, but the lowere end boat ramp was used. Here is a pic of the bream and two channel cats from August. It was 99 degrees, but we couldn't stop. We fished in the heat so long it felt like a powerful hangover the next day. 286 bream, 2 cats, by 2 dudes, in 1 day!!!...
Murray Lake
19 miles away This lake is known here as 'THE BLACKWATER'. Extremely high Mercury levels have caused the lake to be closed off to the public. It is leased by an outside investor that sells catch & release trips as well as good duck hunting trips. They are expensive, I heard. This lake was heavily managed after the paper mill shut down and it is known that if you can (risking the game warden) sneak out there for the biggest Florida Largemouths that have ever been bred! Don't get caught, but it is worth the risk, do not eat'em!...
