The Hematite lake ''loop'' trail offers a nice and easy 2.2 mile day hike. Most of the trail is lakeside and offers many areas to watch water foul, in fact there is a blinded dock that is connected to shore by a 100' wooden foot bridge. The careful eye may also pick up on the attractive blue slag stones, remnants of the iron industry that thrived in LBL until the late 1800's. Part of the trail even takes you on a tour of the swampish inlet of the lake, via a foot bridge that is nearly water level. Finally wear sturdy footware, there be snakes in them woods....
