Do stop by Spruce Pine Lake while you're in this part of Kentucky. During the days of summer here at Spruce Pine Lake, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Spruce Pine Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Having a great time in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is painless.

| | There are nice spots to explore along the Chadwell Gap Trail, and Chestnut Gap is close at hand, and is a brilliant spot. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff close to Spruce Pine Lake. A tremendous close by hotel is Pine Mountain State Resort; a lake close by is Laurel Lakes. driest month of the year is October. This lake is so wonderful. Chestnut Knob is a peak you can see from Spruce Pine Lake; if you came for an overnight stay Harlan County Campground and RV Park is a good place to camp. Going for
a hike on the Redbird Crest Trail is always a great adventure; you can run the rapids of Cumberland River - Poor Fork. This lake is located in the wonderful Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Take a side visit to Deep Gap Branch, and Willie
Begley Memorial RV Park is a delightful campground nearby. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors cool stuff the Cumberland Plateau Mountains has to offer. Don't leave Spruce Pine Lake without first going for a hike along the Ridge Trail, and if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Harlan, Ky is a wonderful choice.
