The high level of rainfall makes Shady Lake a pretty wet spot; the wettest month of the year is typically May, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is October. If you're popping by Shady Lake from Bowling Green, you won't be the only one; going for a hike on the Echo River Spring Trail is always a       good adventure. There are other places here than Shady Lake, for example Nolin Lake, and Shady Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Seven Springs Park Restaurant is a delightful local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the summertime at Shady Lake highs are typically in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures                  at Shady Lake descend into the 20's. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. A delightful nearby hotel is Super 8 Motel Bowling Green, and there are great locations to look at along the Green River Bluffs Trail. This lake is so wonderful. All our national parks are fine locations to stop by, and Mammoth Cave National Park is no exception, and the summit of Dismal Rock can be seen from Shady Lake. Big Branch is close to Shady Lake and is always a joy to stop by, and First Creek Lake is a wonderful lake nearby.   Hatfield Inn, Leitchfield 11 miles away The Hatfield Inn is a 2 story brick building.
