Lake Tom is a good site to visit for more than one day, Harlan County Campground and RV Park is a good site to camp nearby; Lake Tom is not the only location nearby, Carr Fork Lake is a nearby lake. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff truly is abundant here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Cumberland       River - Poor Fork; if you've had enough of Lake Tom, Elk Pond is close by. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Lake Tom. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 60's. During the winter the highs are usually in the 40's, and overnight lows at Lake Tom during the wintertime ordinarily plunge into the 20's. Americas Best Value Inn - Hazard is a good place to get some rest, and there's whitewater on Powell River for all you adrenaline junkies.                  Some of the water nearby flows, like Bates Fork.
