Kentucky Lake is in close proximity; Lake Barkley is not far at all from Murray. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lake Barkley; Hematite Trail is a glorious local trail, also Barkley Dam is worth going to if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Barkley is great enough to spend more than a day at, Lighthouse Landing is a great local campground, and Days Inn Kuttawa is a fine place to get some       rest. Be careful coming to Lake Barkley, you might not ever wanna go home again. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Calvert City, needless to say you could also pop by Gray Slough if you're here; it's not far at all. Getting to Flat Creek from Lake Barkley is painless, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Scout Trail. A good place to camp here at Lake Barkley is Exit 31 RV Park, and since you're here, do take a visit to Double Creek. During the                  days of summer at Lake Barkley temperatures are commonly in the 80's, and the nighttime is slightly colder of course, ordinarily in the 60's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Lake Barkley. This lake is so wonderful.
