The scenery at Fishtrap Dam in the neighborhood of Fishtrap Lake is gorgeous, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites PIKEVILLE is a perfect spot to spend a night or two. Bearwater Hollow is near Fishtrap Lake and is unquestionably a wonderful location to explore, and Pikeville-Days Inn is a nice place to get some rest. This lake is located in the wonderful Cumberland Plateau Mountains.       Life's too short to enjoy all the fun stuff close to Fishtrap Lake. Fishtrap Lake gets a good deal of water; most of the rain falls throughout July, and the driest month of the year is October. This lake is so wonderful. A good site for whitewater paddling close to Fishtrap Lake is Russell Fork, and some close by water includes Bevins Fork. All the outdoors fun things in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains will keep you coming back over and over. Grassy Creek                  is a brilliant whitewater spot near Fishtrap Lake, and close by you locate the Pine Mountain Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. For the period of the warm days of summer here at Fishtrap Lake, high temperatures usually get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's.
