After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Big Stone Gap is a great location to spend a night or two. The annual rain here at Elk Pond is about average; of all the months in a year March is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is October. Powell River is a fine whitewater spot next to Elk Pond; if you came for an overnight stay Cane Patch Campground is a great place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. SUPER       8 MOTEL - WHITESBURG is a delightful place to get some rest, and you obtain a tremendous sight of Halls Butt from here. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Cumberland Plateau Mountains. It's a tremendous idea to take a look at Little Fork, it's in close proximity to Elk Pond; camping is available at Jessie Lea Recreational Vehicle Park-Campground. Summertime at Elk Pond arrives with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. The cold days                  of the winter come with highs in the 40's; night lows all through the winter for Elk Pond tend to be in the 20's.
