Getting to Bear Creek from Beaver Lake is uncomplicated; Americas Best Value Inn-Frankfort is a brilliant spot to get some rest. So much exciting stuff close to Beaver Lake, absolutely striking. You're perhaps addicted to lakes, Hickory Hill Lake is one of those nearby, and Gilbert Creek has a splendid whitewater paddling spot close by. Lake, high temperatures mostly get into the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's with temperatures at Beaver Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights.
This
lake is so wonderful. You're sure to run into some fine folks from Frankfort here; paddling on Benson Creek is so much fun.

I went here for years, years ago...but had not been fishing there for a long time. One day I met Bob Mackey the new owner of the boat dock there and he persuaded me to come. The fishing was great. We fished with liver at night, and the catfish were on!
Sad to say, Bob's gone now, but the fishing is still good. Hope I'll see you there.... |
Gilbert Creek

I currently live on the creek and when it rains hard it is easily a class III. I've run it several times and it is definitely a difficult, but fun, run...I just so happenned to google Gilberts Creek. I was raised on Gilberts creek and I have walked every inch of the creek many times. To say it is whitewater is pretty funny, except where the river runs into the Kentucky River you can't float a boat on Gilberts creek. Most of the creek is barely ankle deep. You may want to check your info. FYI. WH.... |
