If you come at the right time of year, Bear Branch offers some splendid whitewater, and if you've had enough of Barnett Lake, Whoople Cat Lake is nearby. High temperatures at Barnett Lake during the summertime months are in the 90's. Summer overnight lows drop down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Barnett       Lake temperatures fall to the 20's. Big Creek is a stream that you may stumble upon while here, and float down the rapids of Lusk Creek in a kayak. Thirty Four Ranch Campground is a perfect campground nearby, and Days Inn Calvert City is a great site to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Barnett Lake is not the only place nearby, Mud Lake is a nearby lake, and there is a magnificent hiking trail close by called the Shore to Shore Horse Trail. All                  the water falling down from the sky makes Barnett Lake a wet place; most of the rain falls during May while January is typically the driest month. Be careful coming to Barnett Lake, you might not ever wanna go home again.
