Lawrence/Kansas City KOA is a magnificent campground nearby, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Lake Dabanawa. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Kansas River; after a long day outdoors Hallmark Inn is a fine place to spend a night       or two. Summer brings highs in the 90's to State Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. Highs during the winter are generally in the 30's while State Lake night low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 10's. You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the area close to State Lake has to offer. An average amount of rain falls at State Lake; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February is the month                  with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful.
