This lake is so wonderful. All our national parks are fine places to go to, and Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is no exception, and there are other spots here than Council Grove Lake, for example Chase County State Lake. Lakes? Sure, Lake Kahola is close at hand, and a wonderful close by hotel is       Candlewood Suites Emporia. From a rain point of view Council Grove Lake is a reasonably typical site; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January. A good site to camp here at Council Grove Lake is White Memorial Camp, and why not a little side spree to Canning Creek. For the period of the months of summer at Council Grove Lake temperatures are mostly in the 90's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 60's. The winter                  comes with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Council Grove Lake plunge into the 10's.
