Pokagen State Park borders the lake in two basins. Boat traffic is heavy on the weekends in the summer. At all other times it is great. There is much to do there in the winter as there is in the summer if you enjoy winter sports or other winter outdoor activities such as hiking, skating, cross country skiing, sledding, etc. The proximity of Pokagen State Park is a plus. During the months of summer at Lake James temperatures are commonly in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. During the wintertime highs are frequently in the 30's, and night lows at Lake James through the wintertime generally       drop into the 10's. There's so much to do here at Lake James that you need to camp here for a while, Fawn Forest Campground is a tremendous spot for that; if you're here and you like golf, you can check out Lake James Golf Course. Lake James gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. Lakes are such serene places, why not check out Lake Lonidaw in close proximity                  to Lake James, and dry warm beds await you at Ramada of Angola/Fremont, Indiana. This lake is so wonderful. A tour to nearby Hells Point is very relaxing; there are plenty of folks from Angola here. Having a splendid time at Lake James is uncomplicated.
